Diesel is the commonly used term for the purified and refined fuel for all kinds of heavy and light duty motor vehicles. It was invented by Rudolf Diesel in 1892 who was a mechanical engineer by profession.
He initially designed his first diesel powered engine as a result of experimentation of coal dust to use as a fuel. He also successfully experimented with other fuels such as peanut oil and vegetable seed oil. Diesel fuel can be extracted from multiple sources such as biomass, bio gas, animal fat and coal conversions.
Diesel engines offer better engine fuel efficiency and are manufactured in two and four stroke versions. They are more powerful and fuel-efficient than gasoline engines as they are capable to save about 30-35% more fuel. The diesel engine fuel has so many benefits such as better performance, increased power, improved acceleration, increased efficiency, higher resale value and less frequent maintenance. They are also environmental friendly due to less carbon emissions with clean diesel technology.
